Travelling Instructions

VRIPHYS 2012 will take place in the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD, Fraunhoferstrasse 5, 64283 Darmstadt, Germany. Here you can find the institute:

From the Freeway (A5, A67)
Freeway intersection (Autobahnkreuz) Darmstadt – freeway exit “Darmstadt /Stadtmitte”(city): Follow “Rheinstrasse” through the city tunnel. At the end of the city tunnel, turn left and follow the “Cityring”. At the first traffic light turn left into “Kirchstrasse”. At the next traffic light, turn right into “Landgraf-Georg-Strasse”. The next junction on the left is Fraunhoferstrasse. Ahead you find the institute entrance.

On Foot from Luisenplatz (10 min.)
From “Luisenplatz”, follow the pedestrian zone (Rheinstrasse) past Ernst-Ludwig-Square with its statue and past the castle. At the end of the pedestrian zone follow “Landgraf-Georg-Strasse”, and take the first turning on the left (Fraunhoferstrasse). Follow this street. You will find the institute entrance on the right hand.

From the Airport (Frankfurt, FRA)
The “Airliner” provides a bus transfer twice an hour from terminals 1, bus stop 14 and terminal 2 at Frankfurt airport to Darmstadt central station / east side with connections to bus and tram.

From the Central Station
On the main entrance on the east side, at the central bus station “Zentraler Omnibusbahnhof (ZOB)”, you get the following RMV connections to bus or tram:

  • Bus H (direction Kesselhutweg or Alfred-Messel-Weg) to the bus stop “Alexanderstrasse”
  • Bus K (direction TU-Darmstadt Lichtwiese) to bus stop “Schloss”
  • Tram 2 (direction Böllenfalltor) to bus stop “Schloss”
  • Tram 3 (direction Lichtenbergschule) to bus stop “Schloss”
  • Bus L (direction Ostbahnhof) bis zur Haltestelle “Jugendstilbad”

From bus stop “Alexanderstrasse” (2 min.)
Go back on Alexanderstrasse for about 150 m. Before the Congress Center “Darmstadtium”, turn left and follow the footpath to the institute entrance on the left.

From bus stop “Schloss” (5 min.)
Follow the pedestrian zone to the East. Follow the “Landgraf-Georg-Strasse”, and take the first turning on the left into Fraunhoferstrasse. You will find the institute entrance on the right hand.

From bus stop “Jugendstilbad” (5 min.)
Walk downhill along “Landgraf-Georg-Strasse” a little and take the second turning on the right (Fraunhoferstrasse). Follow this street. You will find the institute entrance on the right hand.
